Mummers Parade - Mummers shall march
The start of the Mummers Parade, a New Year’s Day tradition in Philadelphia, was pushed back until noon Tuesday to let rain showers pass through the city.
Parade organizers decided early Tuesday to hold the parade despite high winds expected later in the day.
The century-old event features string bands, floats, and elaborate feathered and sequined costumes.
According to Mummers Parade director Leo Dignam, the Comic Division will begin marching in South Philadelphia at noon, followed by the Fancies and String Bands.
The Fancy Brigades will perform at the convention center at noon and 5 p.m.
Mild temperatures are forecast and thousands of people are expected along the parade route. 9:24
